About Us

Our Beliefs

We are a reformed baptist congregation, subscribing to the London Baptist Confession of 1689. We believe that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). We hold to the regulative principle of worship, and believe that Sunday is a day of rest, provided by God, for the spiritual refreshment and growth of believers.

History

Our church was founded in 1780, by a farmer who had served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He was the founding elder, Daniel Hix. The Hixville village sprang up around his church, which itself is now in the National Register of Historic Places. However, at the time Hix planted the church, it went by the name of “First Christian Church of Dartmouth”

Today, the church’s pastor is Ed Baci.

He studied for two years at Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, then completed his education at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. After serving in several other pastoral and leadership positions, he became pastor of our church, in 1992.
